Meet the 2017 Momentum for Change Award Winners

Join SD Talks on Wednesday 15 November 2017

At the UN Climate Change Conference (COP23, 6-17 November), numerous events showcasing climate action are highlighting the critical role non-Party stakeholders play in implementing the Paris Agreement and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.

Some of the real-world examples of on-the-ground climate action are being recognized by the UN Climate Change secretariat as Momentum for Change “Lighthouse Activities”. These projects shine light on some of the most innovative, scalable and practical examples of what people across the globe are doing to combat climate change. These inspiring stories touch on climate protection, environmental consciousness, social responsibility, and sustainability.

On 15 November at 15:15 - 16:15 CET, the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) Knowledge Centre for Sustainable Development in partnership with UN Climate Change (UNFCCC), will host a webinar with the people behind three of the 2017 Momentum for Change Lighthouse Activities. This lively discussion will demonstrate how these individuals and their projects are creating positive impact in the lives of people, communities, and the health of the planet, through innovative approaches.

This webinar will feature Laura Stachel, who will present 'We Care Solar', Trevor Bell, presenting 'SmartICE', and Giulia Kathleen Houston, presenting 'From Waste to Wow'. The discussion will be moderated by Sarah Marchildon, Team Lead, Momentum for Change, UN Climate Change. At the end of the discussion, participants will have the opportunity to ask their questions directly to the speakers during a live Q&A session.
